Before reviewing. Have you thought about Package Salvaging[1] I believe this will give justification for more major updates rather than having to work still have legacy items. [1] https://wiki.debian.org/PackageSalvaging Regards Phil

I have, and indeed xcolmix came up on the salvage team's BOTD query (http://blends.debian.net/botd/botd.html), but I believe an NMU fits this situation better (nigh-obsolete package with no upstream, trivial bug-fix, no other bugs, no significant history of being RC, no gcc warnings that would turn into more RC bugs in future).
